April 28 - Commemorates Tragic Workplace Incidents
Workers Memorial Day has special significance to me, as I lost my job and my home because I requested safer working conditions. My choice was to work in unsafe conditions or lose my job and my home. I am not the only person who has had to make this difficult decision. Every day people continually make this decision. Dying should not be part of the job.

If you are trying to decide whether you should continue to work in unsafe conditions where you may lose your life or face losing all your material belongings - I understand how difficult this decision can be. I am glad I decided to leave a job with unsafe working conditions. At least I am alive to be able to write this post.
Each year thousands of people needlessly lose their lives through illness or injury because they had to work in unsafe conditions.
