My Seatbelt Story
My family was in a severe car crash when seatbelts were an option in cars. None of us were ever the same - especially my youngest brother who was born the most severely disabled child in Canada. My mother was pregnant at the time of the crash. She put out her arm to protect me from the dash and ricocheted repeatedly back and forth off the steering wheel. We believe this is what caused almost all the bones in my baby brother to shatter and reheal differently.
While we all survived the crash, there are many other families who have lost important family members in a crash because they were flung out of the car and smashed into a post, a tree, or the road.
